Today I collected old wetsuits from the dump shop at a discounted price, as they are keen to partner with our project, in the way of giving us a discount on wetsuits that come in. They had 12 wetsuits sitting at the dump shop, ranging from $5-$10, they gave us 3 wetsuits for $4.
Here I took 2 wetsuits and reconfigured them to make a sample backpack, the images above also show the original wetsuit and then the waste left over. I tried to use interesting characteristics about each wetsuit i used, such as on the front has the wetsuit logo on, the patch pocket is made out of the shoulder strap & i stitched its label on it, as it said made in Cape Town, and i thought it was a quirky feature, and the zip of the bag is cut from another wetsuit.
